Trip Introduction
Rara Lake Trek is a famous restricted trek in Nepal. Prestigious as Nepal's greatest and deepest fresh water lake in the Nepal Himalayas, Rara lake falls in the regions of Rara National Park, situated in the Jumla and Mugu Districts. In September 2007, the lake was proclaimed a Ramsar site, covering 1,583m (6.11 sq mi) including the surrounding with pine, spruce and juniper forests.
We begin the trek with trip to Jumla (over an hour departure from Kathmandu) or from closer Nepalgunj. Finishing the mountain ways and a few villages we reach the bank of Rara Lake.
